Davey is proud of its children
for the hope and joy they bring, for their accomplishments and even just for
being themselves. Meet some of the children who bring smiles to Davey families.
A "No-Quit Kid"
Mathias, son of Denise Broyles, earned his
moment in the spotlight as a recipient of the
Benny Cowgill Award—an honor to Kent City
School District elementary students who best
showcase the same characteristics of late Kent
Roosevelt High School student Benny Cowgill.
Benny was quarterback for the Roosevelt
Rough Riders, and he continued to play football
despite ongoing chemotherapy treatments for
bone cancer. He lost his battle to the illness
in January 1996. As Broyles, supervisor of
financial accounting, says, "It is a big award, and
I am very proud of Mathias for receiving it."

Done for the Day
Evan, 2.5 years old, was helping his dad, North
Detroit Assistant District Manager Josh Leo,
around the yard when he put Leo's hardhat on.
Evan then walked straight to a Davey truck
in the driveway. Perhaps one day Evan will be
heading out for a day in a Davey truck, just
like his dad!

Leo. Josh is an assistant district manager at the
