8 THE DAVEY BULLETIN | July/August 2026 VISION HARTNEY GREYMONT HELPS PRODUCE FARM Gaining Ground, a non-profi t farm that grows its own fruit and vegetables and then donates them, has been a client of Harney Greymont, a Davey company, for over a year. "It feels good to be part of something that supports the local community," Daniel Hager, district manager, Concord offi ce, Residential/Commercial services, said. Hartney Greymont provides a nutrient drench that gets sprayed onto the farm's fruit tree's root zone, such as apples, cherries and hazelnuts, once a year. Gaining Ground poses a challenge because they are an all-organic farm. "Steve Mercer does the application. He did his research on the farm and is very strict on the products used," Hager said. Hartney Greymont provides a spring fertilizer liquid humate. These nutrients feed the microorganisms that keep the trees healthy and productive. Together with Gaining Ground, this partnership continues to fi ght food insecurity in Massachu- setts, one tree at a time. Above: Hartney Greymont sprays the fruit trees every spring. Get to Know... Bethany Page-Piquette When did you start at Davey and what are your current responsibilities? I started with Davey in April 2023 and currently work as a foreman. In my role, I handle a range of respon- sibilities including tree shaping and pruning, utility line clearance work, out-of-town projects and bucket truck operations. This experience has allowed me to develop strong leadership skills while gaining hands-on expertise in both residential and utility arboriculture. What is the most memorable project you've worked on? One of the most memorable proj- ects I have completed at Davey was traveling to Edmonton for six weeks to help support a major contract. It was a great opportunity to step outside my normal work environment, gain experience in a different region and work alongside another team while taking on new challenges. It helped me grow both profession- ally and personally by building my confi dence, adaptability, and leadership skills. Who is someone at Davey who has had a big impact on your career? I would like to give a big shout out to Ian Laidlaw, our district manager. He is always there to support us and consistently puts his team fi rst. He has created an environment where I know I can always go to him for guidance and support. I would also like to recognize Nick Gray, one of our foremen, who has taught me so much throughout the years we have worked together. He is someone I really look up to because of his knowledge, leadership and willingness to help. Whether I need help with my saw, guidance on a bucket scenario, or advice on the job, he is always just a phone call away and ready to help right away. What is your favorite music genre? My favor- ite type of music to listen to before heading to a job site is usually country, as it helps me get focused and ready for the day. As the day goes on, especially in the afternoon, I tend to switch it up and listen to pop music to keep the energy up. What is a hidden talent of yours? One hidden talent I've developed as an arborist is strong spatial awareness and problem-solving. Working in trees and around job sites has trained me to quickly read the environment, plan access points and fi gure out the safest and most effi cient way to complete a job.
