During a visit to Kyrgyzstan, his home country with a 12-hour time difference from his current home in Canada, Mambetaliev, his wife, Umut, and their friends, Nurba and Kasym, embarked on a four-day journey from Kyrgyzstan's capital of Bishkek to view the Khan Tengri mountain, which is the third-highest peak in the country. "It was an unforgettable journey through mountains, rivers and high passes, with stops at shepherds' yurts for meals and overnight stays," Mambetaliev, consulting arborist, Davey Resource Group Canada, said. "On several occasions, big horn sheep crossed our path, while eagles and vultures accompanied us overhead." Khan Tengri, which means "Lord of the Sky," is part of the Tian Shan mountain range in Central Asia and lies at the tri-point of China, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan. It has a geographical elevation of 6,995 meters, and its glacial ice cap can rise to 7,010 meters. Along with the rest of their family, the pair traveled to Copper Mountain in Summit County, Colorado, which boasts 64 trails over hundreds of acres. They skied down relaxed greens and challenging black diamond trail runs, where they tested their skills while battling many obstacles like rocks, trees and sticks. Kadence and Chad even got to travel to an elevation of 2,004 feet while riding the Super Bee ski lift. "Our favorite part was being able to ski together, and we enjoy being able to make these memories with each other," Kadence Hall, utility designer, UAM, DRG, said. "My favorite part of this trip was riding the ski lift to the tallest point we got to. It took around eight or nine minutes, with us traveling around 12 mph. The sites were beautiful."
