DAVEY RESTORES BILTMORE ESTATE DRIVEWAY TO EARLY GLORY
No other company could have pulled off what Davey did to
the entrance of the Biltmore Estate, according to Jeff Crites,
vice president, Southeast operations, Residential/Commer-
cial (R/C) services – in such a timely manner, too.
The driveway to the Biltmore Estate, an 8,000-acre estate in
Asheville, North Carolina, once home to the wealthy Vander-
bilt family, had been lined with the same poplar trees since
its construction in the late 1800s. After Hurricane Helene hit
the area in September 2024, those trees became severely
damaged, and Davey stepped in to help.
"This work was interesting because we were basically
helping to recreate the entrance as it was originally planted,"
Scott Wyatt, district manager, Greensboro offi ce, said.
Davey partnered with Environmental Design, Inc., to replace
the original 28 poplar trees at the front entrance with large,
mature poplar trees over the span of a few months. Davey
continues to treat and fertilize the trees today.
"This job speaks to our mission in a big way with a very
special client," Crites said. "To remove 28 trees that were
damaged in a hurricane and then to replace those trees for
the client so quickly is the very defi nition of exceeding client
expectations in our mission statement. When you get the
chance to give a client the solution for a diffi cult situation
-- that is the 'Davey difference.'"
