22 THE DAVEY BULLETIN | May/June 2026 Get to Know... Gillian Broman When did you start at Davey and what is your current title and responsibilities? I started at Davey in 2022 in the same role I currently hold. I was in the U.S. Air Force for 10 years before coming to Davey, spending six of those years on military contracts where I worked on drone testing. In my current role, my team and I work on mapping projects, which include mapping zip codes and territories for project proposals used with clients, for Davey teams across the U.S. and in Canada. What is the most memorable project you've worked on? My favorite project was a wall map I did for the West Cleveland office, Residential/Commercial services, in 2024. They wanted a map of the region for planning purposes, and they also wanted it to be a clean, more artistic, grayscale print that was aesthetically nice to hang in the office. I'm a very data-driven person, so getting to do a project where I was able to dig into the creative side of making maps was a very fun and memorable challenge for me. Who is someone at Davey who has had a significant impact on your career? Mike Binkley (manager of technical innovation, corporate mapping) and Emmanuel Ong (supervisor, corporate mapping) have each been super supportive of my growth here and have really made working at Davey such an enjoyable place to work. They are always coming up with new ideas, helping influence us to come up with our own, and it keeps the job very exciting. What is your favorite music genre? It depends on the time of year, for me, but I will always love yacht rock. Steely Dan is one of my favorites. What is your hidden talent? I am ambidextrous in most things outside of writing. I write left-handed, I use a right-handed mouse, I golf right-handed, I bat in softball left-handed, I trained in shooting with both hands, and I used to snowboard either way. At some point, I started intentionally trying to learn new things both right and left-handed because it keeps life interesting. After renovations, the Davey Tech Building on Davey' corporate campus boasts classrooms, conference rooms and office space. The Davey Tech Building on the corporate campus was recently renovated to make the space more efficient and accommodating. Larger groups can now meet in the building's two classrooms, and smaller teams can meet in two other conference rooms and a small meeting space along with the John Davey conference room that remains from the original building. "It's a good building on the corporate campus, and we wanted to make sure we utilized the property well," Molly Senter said. Before retiring in April 2026, Senter was senior director of property and oversaw the building's design updates, construction and planning. "It had some updates made to it over 20 years ago, so it desperately needed a refresh." The building first opened in 1985 with Davey's corporate headquarters, and it housed Human and Technical Resource Center staff, labs, diagnostic and research tools and the Davey Institute of Tree Sciences program until the opening of the SEED Campus in 2025. Office space at the back of the building is now used by Information Technology – Business Applications staff. "The SEED Campus is booked and busy, so it's nice to have a space for larger group meetings for people who work at the corporate campus or who are in town visiting without having to run across the street," Senter said. "Employees were already booking future meetings in the renovated building before it had officially opened – the space will certainly be beneficial for the whole company."
