VOLUNTEER PRUNING HELPS BEAUTIFY LOCAL POST OFFICE
After finding out it wasn't in the Sebastopol Post Office's
budget to trim an overgrown magnolia tree that blocked
part of the building's signage, a crew from the Napa office
volunteered to prune the tree themselves.
Patrick Mounce, district manager, had originally reached
out to the post office to see if they needed any work done.
Josh Gray, foreman, and Mitch Russell, foreman, conducted
the pruning.
"It was a very rewarding assignment," Gray said. "Our
client was very appreciative, and as we were working,
people walking by us thanked us and told us what great
work we were doing. It was great to be able to help out
the community."
PERSEVERANCE
Nine employees from Davey's Northeast and South Detroit
Residential/Commercial services offices volunteered to help
plant 100 trees with The Greening of Detroit, a non-profit
organization committed to making a difference in Detroit.
Alongside Davey volunteers were community members and
employees of DTE Energy, Waste Management and Meijer.
"Areas like Detroit can get passed over, so we are trying
to improve areas of Detroit where we can," Arin Krchma,
regional community engagement specialist, said. "We can't
wait to work with them again this spring!"

INTEGRITY
When Gabe Kellman, assistant district
manager, Chippers, a Davey company, Enfield
office, was conducting routine client phone
follow-ups to see if clients were satisfied
with their service, he learned that a longtime
elderly client was raking wood chips alone
in the near-dark. She requested that the
chips be dropped off by a Davey crew for use
as mulch.
GOING ABOVE AND BEYOND FOR HIS CLIENT
"I knew she had a recent surgery, and the
thought that she was out there doing it alone
didn't sit well with me," Kellman said.
Kellman drove from his office over to the
client's property, and together, they finished
the project before it turned dark.
"She was surprised and grateful that I
showed up," he said. "She really wasn't
expecting it."
