15 March/April 2026 | THE DAVEY BULLETIN CLS RESPONSE TO SPECIAL SERVICES SHOWS VERSATILITY What was planned to be a three-week project to get vegetation management at the Dominion Energy Atlanta Solar Farms into compliance for the Ohio Power Sighting Board turned into a 144-day project — to the betterment of all involved. Ninety Commercial Landscape Service (CLS) employees across 13 offices and multiple safety support staff from the Health and Safety Department and Davey Resource Group were involved. Employees worked 15-hour days, seven days a week during the nearly five-month-long project in 2025. Work completed included mowing and trimming services for 3,100 acres, mechanical removal of over 250 yards of poison hemlock, removal of vegetation in over four miles of drainage ditches and treatment of 500 acres of undesirable vegetation with herbicide. Will Kirby was the first Davey employee on site every day and the last to leave. He said, through this project, the company succeeded as a team and showed Dominion the Davey difference. "The team received a tremendous amount of training and coaching in five months, and I am confident that this project was a super spreader of good culture, proper procedure, and major equipping for everyone," Kirby, project manager, Cleveland East Maintenance, CLS, said. HURRICANE RECOVERY SHOWS DIVERSITY For four months in Asheville, North Carolina, CLS crews from over 20 territories removed debris along roadsides and in parks for the city following severe flooding from Hurricane Helene in 2024. Davey utility crews were also there, clearing broken or damaged trees in their bucket trucks. Michael "Ryan" Sigler, who managed the CLS response, said this work showed how truly diversified Davey is and how well crews can respond to special service assignments. A total 72 CLS crews responded to the 4-month project. "Our work really united Davey as a company to the people of Asheville that were hurting," Sigler, production manager, Suffolk CLS, said. "Our crews were boots on the ground, helping relieve the stress and eye sores from the flood. Every resident from the area was grateful for our resources."
