THE DAVEY BULLETIN
INTEGRITY
The smell of smoke and haze in the air alerted Ryan Pinto,
foreman, West Denver office, Residential/Commercial
services, and his
teammate Matt
Fender, tree trimmer,
who now works
in the Southeast
Denver office, to be
extra aware of their
surroundings one
morning while
working on a
residential property.
They soon noticed
a 12-to-15-foot
circumference brush
fire in a natural area
across the street. After calling the fire department, the
teammates were able to safely extinguish the fire using
the equipment they carry with them daily.
"It was small enough that we felt comfortable that we
could take control," Pinto said. "Our safety training came
in handy."
WEST DENVER CREW
MITIGATES BRUSH FIRE
When a company iPad
®
was stolen from a Davey vehicle,
Sabrina Sfredda, Executive Assistant, Davey Canada
corporate office, wasn't willing to chalk it up to something
they could replace. She got creative and recovered it by
using Apple's "Find My" feature.
"I could track
where it was, so
we wanted to try
to get it back," she
said. "I marked it
as lost and put a
message on the
lock screen that
just said if found,
how to reach me."
After some
creative additional
messaging, she
finally got a call.
Working with David Williams, district manager, Kitchener
office, Davey Canada, they convinced the person to return
the stolen device."

Q: What is a successful leadership style?
A: Leading by example is the best quality to have. As a leader,
you should be willing to get directly involved in any situation
and do the work right next to a crew member, showing them
how to do it and helping them get on the right track.
