In March, foremen Joel Robles and Jose Flores, crew
members on the Southern California Edison account for
Davey Tree Surgery Company, saw a ficus tree fall onto
two city contractor trucks in Culver City, California.
In the chaos, Robles and Flores sprang into action.
The pair called Ernesto Gonsalez, general foreman,
Southern California Edison account. He arrived on the scene
in minutes, reported the incident to the Davey Operations
Center (DOC), called 911 and helped stop pedestrian traffic.
No one was injured.
"I tell all my crews, 'We're a family,'" Gonsalez said. "I can't
imagine something happening to them and not seeing them
the next day. That's why we prioritize safety."
The client, SoCal Edison, was able to repair the damage
and restore power in about six hours.
