Over 40 climbers represented Davey well
in the various International Society of
Arboriculture (ISA) Tree Climbing Championships
hosted across the nation over the past few
months by local ISA chapters, with two
competitors qualifying for the International
Tree Climbing Championship to be held this
October in New Zealand.

EXPERTISE
Six Davey climbers participated in the Iowa Arborist Association's Tree
Climbing Championship: Libby Bower, Eddie Fermoso, Aaron Morit,
Alexander Peraud, Ryan Sams and Cody Schwartz. Libby Bower was
the out-of-state first-place winner for the women's division and came in
first place in all the preliminary events. Cody Schwartz placed first in the
ascent event. Sams placed second in the work climb and ascent event.
IOWA
Libby Bower (pictured) won the Masters' Challenge women's division at
the Illinois Arborist Association (IAA) Tree Climbing Competition. Eleven
total climbers represented Davey at the competition, with Ryan Sams
placing second in the Masters' Challenge men's division and Dana
Brelowski finishing second and Alex Julius placing third in the Masters'
Challenge women's division. Davey climbers Luis Hernandez, Montrell
Jordan, Eddie Fermoso, Aaron Morit, Daniel Sancen,Sam Sapyta
and Cody Schwartz also competed. Charles Shonts, district manager,
Naperville office, received the Norm Hall Outstanding Volunteer Award
at the competition.
ILLINOIS
Arron "Cam" Dodds from E. San Antonio (middle) and Brandon

operations, competed in the ISA Texas Tree Climbing Competition.
Both were supported by members of multiple offices, including Market
Manager Chuck Shouse and Area Trainer Jose Pascual. Jess Divin,
district manager of the East San Antonio office (left), volunteered for
the event as a throw line judge.

OHIO
Sarah Hood-Recant,
foreman, Richmond office
(pictured), competed in
the NJ Arborists ISA's Tree
Climbing Championship.
Hood-Recant was the only
female competitor and
placed second overall in
the aerial rescue event.
She was also featured
on 6abc Action News
during a segment
covering the competition
and received the Laura
K. Chisholm Spirit of the
Competition Award.
