STEWARDSHIP
The Residential/Commercial services Rochester office
spent half their workday volunteering at Camp Creative
Themes, a children's summer day camp in East Rochester,
New York, to assist with their new "Light my Fire" program.
The camp created the program in partnership with the
Veterans Outreach Center to provide veterans with access
to free firewood.
The volunteers helped clean up the camp's grounds and
chopped logs using chainsaws
and a Bobcat machine to be
used for the program's firewood.

"It was a huge honor for me to be able to give back to those
who served our country through the work I do every day,"
C.J. Nichols, foreman, Rochester office, said. "We've begun
a really good relationship with the camp, and I hope we can
continue to work with them more in the future."
When a Davey client and Chesapeake
Bay Maritime Museum board member
asked David Piver, sales arborist,
Chesapeake office, Residential/
Commercial services, about the cost
of removing two black locust trees

that were threatening the safety of
the museum's waterfront building in
St. Michaels, Maryland, the Chesapeake
office decided to volunteer their time
and resources to assist.
Piver and Chesapeake office employees
Ronald Enos, foreman; Stephen
Harris, S&S technician; Kevin
Schroeder, PHC technician; and
Stephen Schilling, trimmer, removed
the two trees from the backside of
the building by working for two days
over a two-month period.
"By doing these types of donations,
not only are we helping our
community, but we are also getting
so much in return," Piver said. "When
you spread goodwill, it always comes
back to you and your office."
