THE DAVEY BULLETIN
HOLIDAY POWER OUTAGE
When a tree split near a powerline and a residential
neighborhood lost power in Watsonville, California, on
New Year's Eve, Davey employees from multiple crews
on Davey Tree Surgery Company's PG&E Southern Coast
account didn't hesitate to help.
The crews started work in the afternoon and worked in the
dark, through to New Year's Day, to secure the tree so it
couldn't damage any nearby homes, as well as to return
power to the neighborhood.
Victor Osorno Bucio,
foreman, PG&E Southern
Coast account, said the
crews were able to work
through the holiday by
making a plan to work
together in a safe manner.
"I got a call from my
supervisor that there was an
emergency, and they asked
if I wanted to work," Osorno
Bucio said. "I said yes
because I knew people lost
power and I wanted them
be able to enjoy the New Year
with their families."
The National Air Station (NAS)
Pensacola base in Pensacola, Florida,
was shut down for two days in late
WINTER STORM ENZO
January. This was due to Winter Storm
Enzo dropping 8.9 inches of snow
over two days, far surpassing the prior
two-day record of 3 inches of snow
in 1895, according to weather.gov.
Devan Harmon, project manager, NAS
Pensacola, Commercial Landscape
Services, is from the area and this is
the first time he'd seen snow. Due to
snow being so unusual, the area is not
well-equipped to handle this kind of
weather occurrence.
"There was black ice on the roads, so
we couldn't get to NAS for two days,"
Harmon said. "We were able to help
clear walking paths of the military
family housing areas we serve with
regular shovels and brooms when we
made it in on the third day, as we had
no snow shovels."

Jacob Rabon, landscape
crew leader, and
Roberto Rocha,
landscape technician,
NAS Pensacola,
Commercial Landscape
Services, worked to
clear snow from
residential paths at NAS
Pensacola post-storm.
