Get to Know... CRISTIAN CASTRO
When did you start at Davey and what is
your current title and responsibilities?
I started working at Davey in 2023 in my current
position as a crew leader. I primarily supervise
the string trimming of Flushing Cemetery in
Queens, New York, and make sure everything
is presentable.
What's one of your most memorable
projects that you've been a part of?
I'm responsible for putting landscape edges
throughout the cemetery. This year, my team
and I decided to clear the edged areas of the
entire cemetery because they were starting
to get covered up. We used shovels to clear
the areas to ensure the curves and edged area
looked presentable. I was happy with how
great the end result turned out.
Who is someone at Davey who has had
a significant impact on your career?
Herb Landmann, project manager, Davey
Business Development Team, has personally
taught me and each of my team members a lot
about Davey and the industry. I have so much
respect for him and love working with him. He
has taught me everything I know.
What is your favorite music genre? I listen
to a hybrid of music, just whatever I'm in the
mood to listen to at the time. I do really like R&B
music, especially old school songs and artists.
What is something you'd want to be famous
for? I think I would be famous for being a quiet,
chill person. People usually assume I have a
very talkative personality, so I think they're
surprised to find out how quiet and calm I am.
