SEED CAMPUS ENTERS HOME STRETCH
After breaking ground in 2022, The
Davey SEED (Science, Employee
Education and Development) Campus
is on track to open later this year.
The SEED Campus represents a sig-
nificant leap forward in the evolution
of employee training and scientific
research at the Davey Company.
This year, Davey employees celebrate
145 years since our founder, John
Davey, first started putting his "Tree
Doctor" theories into practice in
1880. John Davey started Davey Tree
just a short walk down the street in
Kent, Ohio, from where the SEED
Campus stands today, at Standing
Rock Cemetery. There, his tree care
science helped restore a dilapidated
and overgrown landscape to a vibrant,
celebrated community space.
From there, Davey founded the Davey
Institute of Tree Surgery in 1909, which
instructed employees at various loca-
tions throughout Kent. That educational
work would grow into a dedicated
space for training and research when,
in 1954, the Davey Technical Service
Center opened. This was the first time
the company had dedicated space
for research coupled with classroom
training facilities.
The technical service center would
evolve into the Davey Institute, which
opened on the corporate campus in
1985 and offered 10,000 square feet
of space committed to research and
education. This year, the scientists
and training staff of the Institute
are preparing to move to the SEED

WHERE TO GO FOR SEED
CAMPUS NEWS
In this issue of the Bulletin, turn
to page 18 for a glimpse of where
a few aspects of the property
currently stand.
In January, we launched a new blog
to provide regular updates on the
SEED Campus progress. Go to
www.davey.com/seed/blog/ for news
and information as we move closer
to opening day.
For active employees, continue
to join Davey Chairman, President
and CEO Pat Covey's bi-monthly
employee townhalls and follow
along on DaveyConnect for SEED
Campus news. Clients and
community members can check
www.davey.com/seed/, the SEED
Campus blog and follow us on social
media for updates. Our retirees can
look for SEED Campus news in the
Alumni Newsletter.
And the Bulletin will continue to share
news and information as we get closer
to the opening.
Exciting things are happening at the
SEED Campus that will impact all of
our operations in 2025, and we look
forward to celebrating another
significant milestone in the 145-year
history of Davey.
