Around 290 employees participated in various Davey-led
training courses over the past several months. Each course
provided participants with the opportunity to learn leadership
skills, networking opportunities, and the ability to further
develop their respective skillsets.
An aerial rescue training was held at Mt. Calvary Catholic
Cemetery in Portland, Oregon, where Residential/
Commercial (R/C) services' Portland, Oregon, offi ce
employees learned new techniques in aerial rescue, bucket
truck self-rescue, and more.
"The trainers walked us through the basics and taught us
how to physically do the work, which allowed us to learn
how to tackle and understand problems in practiced scenar-
ios before they could arise in real ones," said Brant Rohrer,
PHC technician, Portland, Oregon, offi ce.
A climbing module took place at Plum Creek Park in Kent,
Ohio, and taught different climbing systems and techniques.
Participants were from R/C offi ces in the Northeast,
Midwest, and South.
"If you had a question about something, no matter how
complex or simple, the trainers would sit down with you

one-on-one and go through the answer," Rob Broadway,
trimmer, East Pittsburgh offi ce, said of the training held at
Plum Creek Park.
Two separate training modules took place at the Phillipo
Scout Camp in Cannon Falls, Minnesota. One was a
climbing training, where employees from the R/C services'
Maier Tree & Lawn and Minneapolis-area offi ces learned
about different climbing and knot-tying techniques and
safety. The other was a chainsaw arborist skills training,
where employees from R/C services' Minneapolis-area
offi ces, along with Environmental Consulting services, Davey
Resource Group employees, learned about chainsaw safety,
maintenance, sharpening, and precision felling planning.
The Davey Institute of Grounds Management (DI.G.M.) en

employees was held completely in Spanish at the Davey
