11 November/December 2024 | THE DAVEY BULLETIN Cunningham's two elementary school-aged daughters belong to their local 4-H Club. Heim and Kyle Mack, district manager of Arborguard Atlanta and Augusta offi ces, donated the items in Cody's name on behalf of the 4-H Club through their client's charitable organization in Augusta. "This was the most widespread devastation we've ever seen in my 41 years at Davey," Heim said. For Milton, R/C services employees responded in Tampa and Orlando, Florida. Blane Pshigoda, operations vice president, government projects management, CLS, said Dan Morgan, regional manager, government projects management, CLS, received requests from three housing management companies – Balfour Beatty Communities' Fort Eisenhower's on-base family housing community in Augusta, Georgia; Hunt Military Communities' Joint Base Charleston Family Housing in South Carolina; and at a MAXX Properties apartment community in Tampa, Florida, for help in the aftermaths of Helene and Milton. "They called because they knew they could trust Davey to handle the job. And we were able to deliver," he said. Pshigoda said the tenants at Fort Eisenhower could not fi nd hotel rooms and they had to stay in their damaged homes. There was no power, and in some cases, there were trees that had fallen into homes. "With Dan Morgan's leadership, we were able to get Rick Colosimo, operations manager, government projects management, on-site the same day they called. It was important that we reacted quickly, to get trees off of and out of homes so roofers could immediately go in and the residents could get back to some sense of normalcy where they were sleeping," he added. In Aiken, South Carolina, CLS project manager Jason Encinias' Aiken territoy team removed fallen trees at Trolley Run and Sage Creek communities over a two-week period in the wake of Helene. Page said for Helene, 32 employees responded from Surgery Company, then the rest of Surgery Company and Davey Canada stayed on the road to respond after that to Milton, largely due to the fact most of Eastern Utility was still working on Helene recovery. "That's why we had to pull crews from so far out of town. We were still tied up on Helene," Page added. Fifteen employees from Davey Canada Residential and Utility traveled from Ontario to Florida to work on Milton recovery. "Finding qualifi ed staff with the ability to uproot themselves at a moment's notice is the most challenging part, but we have a large pool of committed Davey people to choose from," said Mike Perri, regional vice president, Ontario Utility, Davey Canada. "These 15 individuals worked together to keep each other safe in the face of work that we don't typically see and the volume we don't typically encounter. The feedback on these individuals was positive and awesome to hear. We showed our skill level, dedication, work ethic and of course, courteousness. We came back safe, sound and without incident." Davey Canada Residential and Utility employees traveled from the Hamilton Residential offi ce down to Dade City, Florida, to assist the Eastern Utility Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative, Inc. account. Trees fell on houses at Fort Eisenhower's on-base family housing community in Augusta, Georgia. CLS's Rick Colosimo, Adam Catts, Johnny Pintor, and David Raine oversaw and managed the storm work.
