1. When did you start at Davey, and
what was your role? I started with
Davey in June 2008 as part of The
Care of Trees (TCOT) acquisition as
a groundperson and initially started
with TCOT in 1998. I had my CDL,
so I was driving a truck, picking up
brush, and pruning trees.
2. What is your current title and
responsibilities? I am a foreman
and am responsible for the safety
of my crew. We perform pruning and
tree removals. From the beginning
of a job – the dispatch, figuring out
what we're going to do and what
equipment is needed – our ability to
communicate with each other is key.
We focus on being productive and
on safety. If something isn't safe,
we're not doing it. I call my manager
or sales arborist and we figure out
what needs to be done.
3. What is one of your most
memorable projects you've been
a part of? Hurricane Sandy in
October 2012. We got through
that the best we could working
long hours and didn't experience
any accidents.
4. Who is someone at Davey who
has had a significant impact
on your career? All of the sales
arborists and managers have been
great. Jeremiah Green, who is now
a district manager, Stamford office,
and I worked together and made
a great team. We made it happen
and got the jobs done safely.
