VISION
Electric Vehicle (EV) options continue to grow within Davey's
vehicle fleet, as this year the company added 10 Ford F-150
Lightnings as part of a pilot-program launch evaluating the
feasibility of incorporating EVs into business operations.
Davey's Fleet Services received 10 of Ford's all-electric
pick-up trucks. So far, three Lightnings are already out in
the field being put to work daily.
Paul Milano, vice president, operations support services,
said the program to analyze these first 10 Lightnings will last
for three years, but if demand exists for more during that
period, then Fleet Services will add Lightnings as requested
by company operations and available from Ford.
"The goal with these all-electric trucks is
determining the true cost of ownership of
an EV," Milano said. "What are the real-world
costs of using EVs in your fleet? This is the
direction of the future of many fleet vehicles
in general, and this analysis will help us
LIGHTNINGS ELECTRIFY DAVEY FLEET
Davey has 10 Ford F-150 Lightning pickup trucks being
assessed to determine their capabilities and how they
might be used by Davey operations. The 10 Lightnings
Davey has are extended range models, which means
they are estimated to be able to be driven up to 330
miles on a fully charged battery.
determine how fast we incorporate them into the
Davey fleet."
Davey also has three Tesla Model Y long range electric cars,
which are being used by Davey Resource Group and bring
the company's total fleet of EVs to 13. Fleet Services
continues to offer hybrid vehicles as well and has about
300 Toyota Rav4 LE Hybrid SUVs in service and close to
700 Ford F-150 Flex Fuel vehicles able to run on E85.
Milano said the Lightnings are ideal for positions such as
sales arborists, project managers and account managers
who do not need to tow heavy equipment or drive long
distances as part of their jobs.

Safety isn't only first, it's also second, every second. Safety
is in every moment, especially for us in the utility space
where we're faced with unique safety challenges. It just
always has to be at the top of our mind. We're not out there
to police people, we're there to help support each other
and correct potentially hazardous situations or practices.
