4 THE DAVEY BULLETIN | November/December 2022 Q. WHAT ARE YOU MOST THANKFUL FOR THIS YEAR? positive signal to the employees of the company that we have a strong belief in the strength of our operations and the fundamentals of our business. I am grateful for our clients, and the many ways we've worked to make it easier for them to do business with us. Whether it's improved online account tools or continuing to deliver on our concierge-style ONEDavey service approach, our client relationships are more efficient and engaging than ever this year. None of this could happen without the belief, support, performance, commitment, and passion of our employees who are working with our clients each day. At the end of the day, nothing matters more than our employees making the right decisions for our clients and their properties, knowing they will be trusted, supported, and rewarded for doing so. I am thankful we have been able to affirm our dedication to the strategies that will ensure our success in the future, and that's in large part to all the aforementioned accomplishments this year. These efforts make it possible for us to chart our own destiny and offer training and career development opportunities to our employees at a time when other firms are cutting budgets and reducing staff count. I hope you will take time to reflect on and celebrate all your hard work and personal successes this holiday season as you enjoy time with family and friends. We have the good fortune to be part of a growing company that values our aspirations and our efforts as we strive to provide solutions, and their benefits, to our clients and the environment we live in. A. More than anything this year, I am thankful for our employees' resilience amidst the post-COVID realities, and our ability as a company to overcome challenges and continue to adjust and be creative in the face of a dramatically different business landscape than we had a few years ago. We have continued to make investments and work collectively to prepare the company well for future growth and opportunities. It's important to pause, on occasion, and take note of the commitments we're making to address the key issues we're going to face in the future, which are employee recruitment, retention, engagement, and training. I'm grateful that, from a shareholder perspective, we've reaffirmed our belief in employee ownership at Davey by holding the most successful stock subscription in company history in August. We've completed a milestone in company history with the completion of the third wing addition at the corporate office. When you look back historically from a legacy standpoint at what the corporate facility was intended to be 30 years ago, we are fulfilling a vision laid out by the prior generations of company management. We have achieved what executive leadership foresaw decades ago as to what both the company and the corporate office could become for the employees, our clients and our shareholders. I'm thankful for the steps we've been able to take in continuing to develop the Davey SEED (Science, Employee Education and Development) Campus. At a time when many other companies have paused these kinds of investments, we have stayed the course. That is a very ASK THE CEO Pat Covey Davey Chairman, President and CEO
