WSSI OFFICES COMBINE, MOVE TO EMERALD BARN Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc. (WSSI), a Davey company, combined their Mechanicsville and Midlothian, Virginia, offices into a building known as the Emerald Barn in Richmond, Virginia. A restored historic trolly barn, the original structure was built in 1907 as a repair shop for electric railroad cars. A Net Zero Energy, LEED Platinum certified building, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Bryce Miller, director of environmental compliance, WSSI, said location decision was based on what was geographically best for employees with suitable parking for trucks and storage space for equipment. "We developed a heatmap of everyone's home addresses, and the location was chosen based on what was convenient from a commuting perspective as well as putting us close to several key clients," Miller said. WSSI's Gainesville office is the first LEED Gold building in the state of Virginia. "To add an additional similar office says a lot about what we stand for," Miller said.
