16 THE DAVEY BULLETIN | September/October 2022 Client Lori Wilbur stopped into the Commercial Landscape Services' (CLS) Brantford territory service department looking for assistance with her lawnmower. A piece of the mower fell off when she removed it from her shed. Craig Csordas, branch manager, offered to drive to her home to see if he could fix the issue. After working a half day on a Saturday, Csordas drove to Wilbur's home and reinstalled her lawnmower's operator presence control bar. "I did this because someone needed help, and I had the knowledge and ability to provide it. It was the right thing to do," Csordas said. "It was a great help to me at 75 years old, so I could cut the grass before the rain! I didn't have to get the mower into the car and back to the service department, and out of the car again at home," Wilbur wrote in a handwritten card she delivered to the office. Nonprofit Girls on the Run ® (GOTR) is dedicated to improving the social, emotional, and physical skills of girls from all backgrounds and ability levels. The St. Louis office donated a magnolia, black gum, and kousa dogwood tree to the GOTR St. Louis chapter. Noke Rnjak, trimmer, and Tom Beshoar, district manager, helped the girls plant the trees in Red Bud, Illinois' Lincoln Park. The girls took turns digging the holes for the trees, pushing the trees in, filling the soil back in the holes, and mulching. They gave each tree a name and named the magnolia tree "Maggie." The girls made thank you cards and sent them to the St. Louis office. "We're fortunate at Davey that we're able to donate trees and our time to good causes and give back to the community. Girls on the Run encourages girls to go out and run, exercise, be fit, and build self-esteem," Beshoar said. Beshoar's daughter, Tessa, is a member of the St. Louis GOTR chapter and his wife, Carrie, volunteers with the group while their daughter, Mia, is a GOTR coach. Craig Csordas, branch manager, Brantford territory Employees of the Orlando office have been anonymously supporting their teammate in need. After an accidental explosion occurred at his home in February, Chris Walker, foreman, Orlando office, suffered from third and some fourth-degree burns on 48% of his body. He was airlifted to a burn hospital and has had 17 surgeries. As of July, Walker is in rehabilitation. The Orlando office has been collecting money in a piggy bank to support feeding Walker's animals. He has two pigs, two goats, and 24 chickens. Walker also has a bald python, and his longtime friend, Joe Wozniak, PHC technician, Orlando office, has been taking care of feeding the snake – even though he is terrified of it. "We're all here for him. We will continue to support Chris until he's able to come back to work," Wozniak said. Walker's mother, Trisha Walker, said the Orlando team has been sending cards with notes of encouragement to Chris. "Without the support of Chris' teammates, and Joe's help with the daily care of the animals and the house, I don't know what we would have done," Walker said. "Chris appreciates his team, and said his goal is to come back to work with his Davey family as soon as possible." INTEGRITY Chris Walker is pictured with a silkie chicken, who gained the nickname "LWC" aka Little White Chicken. HEARTFELT THANKS FROM A CLIENT ST.
