27 July/August 2022 | THE DAVEY BULLETIN Gerald Ryan Patti Shanley Jim Stief Rebecca Preble retired May 2 following 6 years of service. Preble was a client experience coordinator for Jones Bros. Roberto Rodriguez retired May 28 following 36 years of service. Rodriguez was a foreman in the Mount Vernon office. Rodriguez joined Davey in 2008 through The Care of Trees acquisition. Gerald Ryan retired May 31 following 30 years of service. Ryan was an account manager, Eastern Utility services. Patti Shanley retired May 1 following 43 years of service. Shanley was administrative manager, R/C services, corporate office. Shanley started with Davey in 1979 as a clerk in the residential billing services department. In 1986 she transferred to the client experience coordinator role in the Akron office. She was promoted to administration assistant in 2003 and administrative manager in 2017. In 2006, Shanley was tapped to lead the CEC Council. She is a Best of Davey Leadership Award recipient. Harold Shelton retired May 12 following 13 years of service. Shelton was a supervisor, Wolf Tree. YOU SHOULD KNOW MANAGER TRAINING PROGRAM DEBUTS A brand-new Manager Training Program was launched on the Davey Learning Management System (LMS). This program is part of Davey's Vision 2030 strategic plan to help all employees grow and succeed. The training program features: • Fundamental management skills in three categories: Business Skills, People Skills, and Leadership Skills. • A combined total of approximately 15 hours of professional development. • Short, bite-sized sections that allow you to complete the training at your own pace on a mobile device or desktop computer. Be sure to take advantage of this opportunity for professional development. The training is voluntary at this time, but you are encouraged to complete the full training program by the end of the year. The training program is accessible on the LMS homepage, or by using the link in the QR code. For help accessing the LMS, send an email to education.help@davey.com, or call 330-673-9515, ext. 8102. Follow the link in the QR code to reach the LMS Manager Training Program. This training is currently available only to managers and supervisors in the U.S. and Canada. Jim Stief retired May 2 following 44 years of service. He was execu- tive vice president, U.S. Residential operations. Stief started with Davey in 1978. He first joined the company as a climber while attending college and participating in a cooperative education program. A 1980 graduate of D.I.T.S., Stief was promoted to district manager in 1982 of the North Atlanta office. In 1988, he was promoted to operations manager, Western R/C operations, and relocat- ed to the Livermore office. In 1992, he was named operations manager for Midwest operations and relocat- ed to Kent. In 1998 he was promoted to vice president of operations for Davey's R/C services southern, western and central operations. In 2008, he was promoted to vice president and general manager of R/C services for the southern, western and central operations. And in 2010, he was named vice president and general manager for all of Davey's U.S. R/C services. In 2010, he also was named a corporate officer by the board of directors. In 2012, Stief was promoted to executive vice president. He is a 2013 John Davey Award of Excellence recipient, is a charter member of the Davey President's Council and is a D.I.T.S. Golden Oak Award winner.
