17 May/June 2022 | THE DAVEY BULLETIN 1: TAMPA ELECTRIC ACCOUNT Tampa Electric was named a Tree Line USA ® utility for the fourteenth consecutive year in a row by the Arbor Day Foundation. To celebrate, Tampa Electric donated eight trees provided by Davey to the University of South Florida, which is part of Arbor Day's Tree Campus Higher Education program. Davey's Tampa Electric account donated 4-inch d.b.h. trees, including one red maple, one winged elm, one jacaranda, and five bald cypress trees. UTILITY CORPORATE 2: WESTERN RESERVE LAND CONSERVANCY Davey sponsors Western Reserve Land Conservancy's (WRLC) tree planting events in 2022. Four spring planting events aided Northeast Ohio neighborhoods with sparse tree canopies. An Earth Day tree planting was held in Eastlake, Ohio. Davey employees helped volunteers plant 56 trees. Davey employees joined WRLC and Habitat for Humanity of Cleveland volunteers (guests and volunteer groups pictured) in Cleveland's Buckeye Woodhill neighborhood on Arbor Day to plant 13 new trees. The trees were planted at Habitat for Humanity of Cleveland homes. Employees also volunteered at two more May tree planting events with WRLC in Cleveland at the Garden of Eleven Angels and the Monroe Street Cemetery. 1: HOLDEN FORESTS & GARDENS Located in Kirtland, Ohio, Holden Forests & Gardens (HF&G) celebrated the 150th anniversary of Arbor Day with free admission to the Cleveland Botanical Garden and the Holden Arboretum, as well as tree seedling giveaways at both locations. Davey donated 750 seedlings, including sugar maple, red maple, Douglas-fir, and Serbian spruce to events at both HF&G campuses. Davey's Jennifer Lennox, director, public relations, and her son, Nate Lennox (pictured on the left), distributed the seedlings to attendees of the Cleveland Botanical Garden on Arbor Day. 1 2 9: SAN FRANCISCO OFFICE The City of San Mateo, California, donated 12 new trees to San Mateo High School. Adam Jensen, district manager, San Francisco office, and Stephen Howard, assistant district manager, delivered the trees to the school for their Arbor Day event. They assisted students from the school's Environmental Science class by helping them prep the planting areas. The students planted six deodar cedar, four netleaf oaks, and two cork oaks. The trees were chosen based on their heat and drought tolerance and are species often found in the Middle East and Mexico. These areas share similar climates with San Mateo, as well as sharing projected climates for the next 50 years due to climate change. 9
