TREE PRUNING CLINIC ENCOURAGES FORESTRY CAREERS
Bob Uzandenis, sales arborist, South Chicago office, held a dormant
tree pruning clinic with students in the Forestry & Gardening Club of
the Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123. The workshop took
place last November.
Uzandenis is an alumnus of the school, and his wife, Colleen, teaches
in the district. Last year, for Arbor Day, the South Chicago office donated
approximately 40 saplings to refill the school's tree nursery which were
used for the dormant pruning lesson. "It's one of the only tree nurseries
managed by a school in the entire state of Illinois," Uzandenis said.
"It's really nice to teach kids about possible careers in forestry and get
them used to being outside instead of in front of screens. I'm definitely
very passionate about that," Uzandenis said.

"I see it as an opportunity to learn not
only from the peers that I'm leading
with, but from the people in the first

LEADERSHIP
" One of the things that I love about
working for Davey is the opportunity
to do these things. It helps me grow
as a person, which helps me help
my clients, and my team. So for me,
experiencing the opportunity to
perform leadership allows me to
be a better employee."

cohort. They are diverse professionals,
coming from a wide range of
backgrounds, including non-profit and
city leadership. For me, it's all about
making these connections and learning
more about leadership through
someone else's eyes," Karcher said.
