DAVEY TIME CAPSULE TO BE OPENED IN 2030
A time capsule filled with items from
2020 depicting the state of the Davey
Company was sealed in December and
will not be reopened, and its contents
reviewed, until 2030.
Members of Davey's strategic
leadership team sealed the capsule
in a gathering at the Davey Institute.
The capsule's opening will coincide
with the anticipated retirement of
the current Davey Company Strategic
Plan, Vision 2030.
Its contents included a mix of
physical and digital items, including:
a battery-powered chainsaw; current
PPE; a modern climbing harness;
letters, photos, videos and more.
DAVEY INSTALLS NEW
NATIONAL CHRISTMAS TREE
Holiday lights twinkled to life on a new National Christmas
Tree within sight of the White House in Washington, D.C.,
thanks to Davey's Montgomery County Commercial
Landscape Services (CLS) territory, and the Baltimore and
Washington D.C./Gaithersburg Residential/Commercial
services offices.
Davey affiliate Environmental Designs, Inc., moved the white
fir from the Hill View Christmas Tree Farm in Middleburg,
Pennsylvania, to the Ellipse at President's Park South, where
Davey crews installed the new tree. Davey has transplanted
several National Christmas Trees dating back to 1978 for the
National Park Service (NPS), which manages the tree.
Josh Piquette, branch manager, Montgomery County CLS
territory, said the previous tree, which Davey had installed in
2019, succumbed to needle cast and was in severe decline,
so the NPS wanted the tree replaced.
"You can see the sense of pride our crews take in having
our trucks out here and having Davey perform the work,"
Piquette said. "To have the Washington Monument and the
White House surrounding us while we work, it's amazing."
