23 July/August 2021 | THE DAVEY BULLETIN NEW 'EMPLOYEE-OWNERSHIP CORNER' IN DAVEYCONNECT There's a new feature in DaveyConnect called the Employee Ownership (EO) Corner. The EO Corner is a central location for employees to access current EO resources, information and tools. The materials in the EO Corner range from a PowerPoint with comprehensive information on employee ownership, to a quick stock price Q&A and an employee- ownership FAQ. The page also has contact information for the treasury team, to whom employees can send specific questions. While employee-ownership content is frequently shared on DaveyConnect, the EO Corner is where employees can go to find a handful of informational and educational materials that can be used to discuss and learn more about employee ownership. All items in the EO Corner can be downloaded, and the link to the page can be shared with any Davey employee. As shown in the pictures, the Quick Links section runs across the top of the home page (right) in the mobile app. On the desktop version (above) of DaveyConnect, click on the ellipses button on the left side of the page and the EO Corner is the fourth button down on the right side. Fifty-seven employees on the Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO) account participated in a full day of in-person training. After meeting at Shanklin Park in Goshen, Indiana, employees split into groups to rotate through four sessions focusing on traffic control, aerial rescue, Factors & Forces, and pre-climbing inspections, including voltage identification. The four focus areas were driven by both the needs of the crews as well as requirements from the utility client, said Donald Viers, account manager, Lakes region. For instance, in addition to the other biannual required training sessions, NIPSCO TRAINING DAY FOR NIPSCO CREWS recently implemented an enhanced traffic control policy, so now all employees on the account are certified by the National Safety Council in traffic control techniques. "We want our crews to learn and grow at events like this," Viers said. "Training is always an ongoing process, and we always strive for excellence in safety." PERSEVERANCE In total, 47 field crew members and four general foremen attended the training, with sessions run by members of the corporate safety team and Davey's Arborist Skills Trainers. Jack Bloomfield, senior vice president, Lakes region, also attended.
