THE DAVEY BULLETIN
and daily stepping stones for success, reminding
them what skills need to be worked on and reinforcing
accountability with supervisors and teammates," Balint
said. "The booklets help them get excited and want to
learn. They want to show they are safe in every aspect
of the job."
Adam Jensen, district manager, San Francisco office,
also credits the CDP booklets, as well as the Davey Safety
and Training Manual, as key resources for his team.
The manual is designed to provide employees with
access to current Davey safety and operational procedures
and information. It incorporates the ANSI Z133 Safety
Standards for Arboricultural Operations and applicable
OSHA standards. The manual features 23 sections on
topics ranging from PPE to job site safety.
Jensen said repetition and daily reminders help instill
Davey's culture of safety into every individual. But safety
goes beyond the workplace, too, he said.
"We talk a lot about the purpose of having a job and
what that job really is, and that's to be with our families
and provide for our families and to go home to them at
the end of the day," Jensen said. "Our collective success
as arborists and as a company starts with employees
being purposefully safe and practicing it every day."
