Herms will serve a two-year term on the board. "I'm honored to be a member of the board of trustees because of the opportunity to work with industry leaders to serve the fields of arboriculture and urban forestry by helping to guide the trajectory of research and education," Herms said. "I've been fortunate to have had my research supported by the TREE Fund over the years. This is my chance to pay it forward through service to the industry." Congratulations, Dan! Travis Crane, area manager, Davey Resource Group, was elected to serve a two-year term on the Medina County Economic Development Corporation (MCEDC) Board of Directors in Ohio. "MCEDC is an outstanding organization with numerous first-class business leaders from Medina County," Crane said. "The leadership, staff and members of this organization are vital to the economic success of Medina County and Northeast Ohio." Congratulations, Travis! R.J. Laverne, manager, education and training, Davey Institute, has been elected to serve on the American Society of Consulting Arborists (ASCA) Board of Directors. He will serve a three-year term. The mission of ASCA is "leading the arboriculture consulting profession through a strategic plan that links industry knowledge, opportunities for member success, increases public awareness to the value of a consulting arborist and governance strength," according to their website. In addition to serving on the board, Laverne is an instructor for the ASCA's Tree and Plant Appraisal Qualification (TPAQ) course. Congratulations, R.J.! SmithGroup, an integrated design firm, was honored for Davey's East Campus Master Plan project with the Honor Award in Planning and Analysis by the Michigan Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects. The project was evaluated on the quality of the analysis and planning effort; context; environmental sensitivity and sustainability; likelihood of successful implementation; and value to the intended users and to the profession. Davey's East Campus is a 174-acre former golf course that will be developed into world-class training and research facilities for the benefit of Davey employees and the green industry at large. Congratulations, SmithGroup! Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc. (WSSI), a Davey company, was recognized by the Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC) with a Certified Silver Conservation Certification for the native habitat on the grounds of their Gainesville, Virginia, headquarters. WSSI joins the over 600 WHC Conservation Certification programs. Congratulations, WSSI! Jill Golden, project manager, corporate communications, earned national recognition at the 2020 Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) Annual International Conference. Golden was awarded the National Gold Key award, which is the highest individual award that recognizes students with academic excellence in public relations and leadership within their PRSSA chapter. Golden is an alumna of Kent State University and was actively involved with the PRSSA Kent Chapter. Congratulations, Jill!
