Felix Le Coadic string trimming at Woodlawn
Cemetery. As part of their field training, the
interns learned about spring and fall cleanup
work. They learned how to prune shrubs,
operate push and riding mowers, proper use
of string and hedge trimmers and they planted
trees and shrubs.
LEADERSHIP
"
I honestly believe Davey is one of the best companies
to work for. Not just because of the security, but
morally I believe in what the company stands for, the
culture that it breeds, and of course the investment
it offers. You can start as a groundperson and end
up being a vice president. When people see that it
inspires them.

OWNER'S BOX
LRP is a 10-week paid internship that
included both hands-on and virtual
learning. The program was funded by
the Advance and Earn initiative, which
was launched by the New York City
Department of Youth and Community
Development and supported by
The Door, a New York City non-profit
youth organization.
Multiple Davey instructors and guest
speakers showed the interns the
variety of career options available in
the green industry, said Chelsi Abbott,
technical advisor, Davey Institute.
"We are doing good things for the
local community by employing and
training these youth so they can find
a job after the program," said Herb
Landmann, project manager, National
Business Development Team.
"These types of programs help us
find a labor source."
