Crews from the Winter Park Electric
account in Winter Park, Florida,
assisted Davey's Orlando Residential/
Commercial office with a removal of
a massive laurel oak tree near the
powerlines in a client's backyard.
The R/C crews sought to bring in a
crane to remove the tree, but it was
determined it would have to be
removed using climbers. Because it
was near the powerlines, they asked
Marc Pierre, general foreman, if his
crews could conduct the removal.
"The first day I spoke to the
homeowner and let him know what
we needed to do to make this a
successful removal," Marc said. "I
told them I needed to remove a fence
panel and move some bushes."

65 feet tall and roughly 42 inches in diameter.
Marc Pierre wanted to acknowledge the
work of Juan Cortez, Mirna Cortez and
Orius Pierre for their diligence, dedication
and commitment to safety while removing
this tree. "They are well respected, and they
are big on teamwork and working together
to come up with a solution," Marc said.
"The teamwork and team building they do
is what gets the jobs done."

finished cutting the larger piece of
wood. This removal was completed in
a matter of two days.
"I'm happy we could provide that
assistance to the R/C team in their
time of need and could provide the
Davey difference to the homeowner,"
Marc said.
