THREE VOLUNTEER FOR KABOOM!
Three employees from Davey's Central Utility Region
volunteered their weekend to help construct a KaBOOM!
playground in Akron close to Akron Children's Hospital. Mike
Ashe, general foreman, and Tyler Ashe, trimmer, from the
City of Cuyahoga Falls account, along with Angel Chiclana,
general foreman, FirstEnergy account, helped construct
a playground for the national nonprofit that works to build
recreation spaces in underserved neighborhoods across
VOLUNTEERING WITH VETERANS FOR CLIENT
Working alongside employee veterans from the Cincinnati
Catholic Cemetery, a small crew from Davey's North
Cincinnati office spent Veteran's Day removing pines and
pruning among the headstones at St. Mary's Catholic
Cemetery in St. Bernard, Ohio. Volunteers included Jason
Muchmore, district manager, John Haggerty, trimmer,
and Robert Tolle, foreman. The account was fostered by
Brian Borkowicz, project developer, National Business
Development Team.
the country. Equipment came in sections and volunteers
pieced together the climbing bars, slides, decorative walls
and other contraptions of childhood fun. Davey's partnership
with FirstEnergy made the volunteer opportunity possible.
"KaBOOM! is a great organization that is doing good things
in communities, so we were more than happy to help
out," said Mike Ashe. "Those guys know how to build a
playground. I wish I had had one like it when I was a kid."
MISSION
"A day like this, I know that this is my Davey Tree,"
Muchmore said. "The entire process has been a joy,
from developing the client into a genuine relationship and
then being able to give back to them. Volunteering is a way
to recognize and thank those veterans that have sacrificed
and served our community."
