THE DAVEY BULLETIN
Landscape Services (CLS) territories to add to the 22 local
employees who had conducted the original assignment.
We had 92 people working the following Monday morning."
Before the client expanded the budget, Davey crews were
projected to wrap up about 45 percent of the remaining
58-mile unit of pipeline right-of-way. By mid-December, with
the added crews, Davey finished 75 percent of the work
on the same unit and surpassed the 66 percent completion
and budget requirements for the client.
"These crews were averaging several miles per day, and we
removed thousands of trees," Crites said. "It was quite a feat."
The work naturally showcased Davey's collaborative ability.
DRG planned the work, R/C and CLS crews conducted
the rights of way maintenance, Utility services provided
administrative support, the corporate safety department
helped oversee operations and Fleet Services via the Kent
Shop handled equipment issues to help keep the project
on deadline.
Davey President and CEO Pat Covey even made site visits
on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving Day with the crews,
who at that time were all working in Portage County, Ohio,
where Davey's headquarters are located.
"It was neat to see the reactions from the crews when our
president and CEO stopped at their work site," Crites said.
"The quality of the work, the teams and the camaraderie
were all just amazing."
