DAVEY VOLUNTEERS FOR
HOME FIRE SAFETY
A dozen members of the Davey Resource Group team
from the Kent office mobilized to help the American Red
Cross educate Ohio homeowners about fire safety. The
group helped install 27 fire alarms and canvassed over 100
homes in Ravenna, Ohio, as part of the national Sound the
Alarm Campaign.
Like the American Red Cross, Davey is often there during
disasters, and both organizations understand the need to
be prepared for things to go wrong. Smoke alarms may

PRUNING LOW FOR THE KIDS
The learning garden fruit trees of Western Avenue School
in Geneva, Illinois, are well-tended and well-loved. For the

West Chicago office, makes an annual volunteer visit for
a fruit production prune, ensuring the branches weep low
for the young students while
still producing fruit.
"When the branches are short,
the students can really see
what's going on when they
bloom and produce. It's a
better learning environment,"
Matravers said.

extremely touched by the people who volunteered, some
of whom told me they had been affected by house fires and
they wanted to help others." McCabe said.
