STORMS CAN'T STOP DAVEY CLIMBERS FROM COMPETING
Two employees from Davey's Orlando R/C office were
finally able to compete in the 2017 International Society of
Arboriculture (ISA) Florida Chapter Tree Climbing Competition
(TCC) after the event was postponed due to hurricanes.
Anthony Obermayer, foreman, and Dustin Ferland, foreman,
competed for the first time. Ferland placed 27th and
Obermayer placed 36th out of 40 competitors.
Adam Jackson, district manager, has been the chair of
the Florida TCC since 2010. His wife Danae Jackson,

southeastern recruiting coordinator, and Ben Wasielewski,
foreman, also assisted with this year's event.
"We love doing it and we've really found our tree family
here," Danae Jackson said. "This year's event was fantastic.
We had a huge Davey presence."
Danae Jackson said everyone supported each other.
"It was neat to see our team here in Orlando get so much
support from the outsiders and vice versa," she said. "They
definitely made some good friendships because of it."
HONORING A FELLOW ARBORIST
Davey's Richmond, Virginia, Residential/ Commercial (R/C)
office sponsored the Sixth Annual David Tate Urban Forestry
Service Day. This spring, Richmond area arborists gathered
in honor of the late David Tate, a passionate arborist in the
community who passed away in 2013 after a life-long battle
Davey sponsored and participated in a day of service in honor of
David Tate, the brother of Richmond R/C office employee Phil Tate.
with bipolar disorder. A day of service was held in Byrd
Park to work on trees that needed some extra care and
improve Richmond's urban forest. Davey's Richmond R/C
office was represented at the event by Phil Tate, David's
brother, and Jose Martinez.
