THE DAVEY BULLETIN
TALKING DAVEY AT ISA, ITCC
Davey enjoyed a commanding presence at the 2018
International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Annual
Conference and Trade Show as presenting sponsor of
the International Tree Climbing Championship (ITCC) and
a conference sponsor in Columbus.
More than 70 competitors from 20 countries competed
in the 42nd annual ITCC. Davey employees helped set up,
organize and run the competition, which was held in Franklin
Park in Columbus, and ran a booth at the event.
"ITCC is an event that Davey has supported for many years
now because it's an event that showcases so many aspects
of arboriculture that are core to our company," said Sandra
Reid, vice president of corporate communications and
strategic planning administration for Davey Tree.
At the conference, nine Davey employees served as
presenters or facilitators on a number of topics ranging
from sustainable urban forestry science to climate change,
utility tree management, and women in arboriculture.
Davey speakers included: Anna DeToro, bio-ecological lab
coordinator, Davey Institute; Dan Herms, vice president,
research and development; Dana Karcher, project developer,
Davey Resource Group; R.J. Laverne, manager,
education and training; Scott Maco, director, research
and development; Eduardo Medina, arborist skills trainer;
Anand Persad, manager, arboriculture and plant sciences;
Don Roppolo, manager, arboricultural training; and Tim
Walsh, manager, corporate safety department.
Davey's booth on the trade show floor featured a mix
of new and old. The booth hosted live demonstrations of
Davey's proprietary TreeKeeper software and featured a
variety of historical tree care items on display from the
company's historical archives.
