THE DAVEY BULLETIN
The other D.I.T.S. students impressed
Andrews with their integrity.
"One of the core company values at
Davey is integrity, and I've seen a lot
within the students," Andrews said.
"I wasn't expecting everyone to be
so intelligent, have so much integrity
and help each other out so much."
The major D.I.T.S. takeaways for
Andrews are the leadership skills he
gained and how he is going to change
as a person to be a leader at his
shop, especially in his new role as
a sales arborist.
"It's my biggest personal struggle yet
potentially the biggest benefit, not only
to myself, but the company, being a
strong leader," Andrews said.
Joshua Bearman, foreman, Cincinnati
R/C office, said a description he heard
about safety will stay with him.
"Safety isn't a priority, it's a value,"
Bearman said. "I never looked at it
that way. That your priorities change,
but values are always there."
The knowledge that Davey invested
in Benninger to be at D.I.T.S. stood
out to him.
"Knowing that our employee-owned
company is willing to invest money
to better our knowledge and services
we provide makes you feel more a
part of the Davey family than what
I expected," Benninger said.
Nunez said he's thankful and blessed
for the opportunity to participate,
because it's something that will be
carried on for decades.
"I never thought I was going to come
to D.I.T.S.," Nunez said. "Coming to
Davey, my supervisor told me that
we can look at it as a career and not
just a job. Davey believed in me and
I believe in Davey."
