4 THE DAVEY BULLETIN | January/February 2018 PROMOTIONS EVANS NAMED VICE PRESIDENT, GENERAL MANAGER OF DAVEY TREE SURGERY COMPANY Larry Evans vice president and general manager of the Davey Tree Surgery Company Larry Evans has been promoted to vice president and general manager of the Davey Tree Surgery Company, a subsidiary of Davey Tree. Evans started with Davey in 1980 and moved up through the ranks of climber, foreman, district foreman and area supervisor in his first 10 years. In 1997, he was promoted to account manager and then again to operations manager in 2003. In 2006, Evans was named vice president and in 2012 he was promoted to senior vice president. "Larry has been a consistent and tenacious supporter of his people and the Davey Company. He has a relentless drive to improve every situation," said Pat Covey, president and CEO of Davey Tree. "Throughout his career, he has provided our clients in the western United States with an unmatched commitment to safety, service and superior performance." Evans is an International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist ® Utility Specialist and past member of the Davey President's Council. MCCABE PROMOTED TO VICE PRESIDENT, GENERAL MANAGER FOR DAVEY RESOURCE GROUP Jack McCabe has been promoted to vice president and general manager of Davey Resource Group (DRG) Utility Vegetation Management. McCabe joined the company in 1999 as a senior consulting utility forester on the PG&E pre-inspection account. In 2006 he was promoted to western production manager for DRG, and then again in 2009 to western region operations manager. In 2014 McCabe was named vice president of operations for DRG utility vegetation management. "Jack has a reputation for exceeding client expectations no matter the conditions," said Brent Repenning, executive vice president of U.S. Utility and DRG. "His role as a respected leader, and his aptitude for problem solving have been a vital force in the growth and development of the company's utility vegetation management services." McCabe has been involved with numerous industry leadership groups in his time with DRG, including the Utility Arborist Association, The California Urban Forestry Advisory Committee and The California Urban Forest Council. He served on the Davey President's Council, and he is currently a board member of the Summit, Portage and Medina Counties Chapter of the American Red Cross. McCabe is a graduate of the University of California-Santa Cruz and holds a bachelor's degree in environmental studies and urban planning.
