November/December 2016 | The Davey Bulletin 5 Claypool Named Vice President and General Manager, Southern Utility Operations Harry Claypool's responsibilities will be overseeing utility line clearance operations in the southern U.S. for Davey and Wolf Tree, a Davey company. Claypool started with Davey in 1978 in the Akron office after graduating from Penn State University with a bachelor's degree in general agriculture. He served as district manager of several residential territories before moving into Davey's utility service line in 1998 as regional manager for the Mid-Atlantic region. In 2005 Claypool was promoted to vice president of southern operations and then to senior vice president of southern operations in 2015. Claypool is a former member of the Davey President's Council. "Harry and his team have achieved tremendous growth in the southern utility operations, and this promotion is recognition of his ability to be successful in a challenging segment of our business," said Brent Repenning, senior vice president, Davey Resource Group and eastern utility services. "Harry's success is a testament to his leadership skills." Harry Claypool Ken Joehlin Joehlin Named Vice President and General Manager of Environmental Consulting and Business Development In his new role, Ken Joehlin will be responsible for further growing Davey Resource Group's environmental, municipal and commercial consulting markets. These markets consist of several DRG business units Joehlin will oversee. "While we have grown these markets significantly, both organically and through acquisitions, these markets represent a significant growth opportunity for Davey," said Brent Repenning, senior vice president, Davey Resource Group and eastern utility services. Joehlin started with Davey in 1982 as a technical advisor in environmental consulting. In 1996 he returned to Davey as a project developer after other employment in the green industry. Joehlin was promoted to manager of business development in 2006. And in 2011 he was promoted to vice president of business development. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees in forestry science from The Ohio State University. Joehlin is a former member of the Davey President's Council and a recipient of the Best of Davey Leadership Award. Mike Mittiga Mike Mittiga's responsibilities now include overseeing various accounts throughout Davey's eastern utility operations. Mittiga started with Davey in 2006 as a management trainee in Florida after graduating from Kent State University with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He held various positions in utility operations before moving back to Kent and assuming the role of corporate operations manager. Mittiga is a former member of the Davey President's Council.
