4 The Davey Bulletin | November/December 2016 DAVEY PEOPLE REPENNING NAMED SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT OF DAVEY RESOURCE GROUP AND EASTERN UTILITY Xxx Brent Repenning Senior Vice President Davey Resource Group and Eastern Utility Thea Sears Brent Repenning has been named senior vice president of Davey Resource Group (DRG) and eastern Utility operations. This represents an expansion of responsibilities for Repenning, who will continue to oversee DRG, Davey's environmental consulting division, while adding oversight for Davey's eastern utility services. DRG includes components that serve utility clients by providing preplanning, auditing, asset management and other services in addition to natural resource consulting services. Davey Chairman and CEO Karl Warnke said Repenning's promotion is a part of Davey's strategic succession planning in order to prepare the company's largest business segment, utility, for opportunities of the future. "The merging of our consolidated utility capabilities under single leadership will expand our service offerings, present new opportunities and strengthen our brand in this important market," Warnke said. "I am confident we will make new inroads into the market and strengthen the Davey utility brand throughout the country." Repenning joined DRG in 1994 as an intern and held positions of increasing responsibility until, in 2009, he became vice president of eastern operations for DRG. In 2010 he was named vice president and general manager of DRG. In 2013 he became a corporate officer of the Davey Company. Repenning holds a bachelor's degree in forestry from The Ohio State University. He received a Davey Outstanding Manager award in 2007. He is a member of the Davey Strategic Planning Team, the Society of American Foresters and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Sears Named Controller of The Davey Tree Expert Company In her role as controller, Thea Sears will lead all aspects of accounting and financial reporting, including managing strong internal controls over financial reporting. She will provide accountability for accounting and financial leadership across the company. Sears, an executive officer of the Davey Company, was elected assistant controller in May 2010 and previously served as manager of financial accounting. Sears joined the company in 1993 and has held numerous responsibilities during her tenure with Davey, including a variety of roles in financial reporting, managerial reporting and operations accounting. She is a former member of the Davey President's Council. Sears is a certified public accountant and earned a bachelor's degree in industrial accounting from the University of Akron. "Thea's incredible wealth of knowledge of financial reporting and experience at Davey makes her the ideal professional to serve as controller," said Joe Paul, executive vice president and chief financial officer.
