FALL CARE
CHECKLIST
CLEAN UP
landscape debris,
dried stems and
plant remnants,
adding
mulch where
appropriate without
over mulching (piling
mulch up against the
trunk or applying too
heavily).
PLANT
trees, shrubs,
flowering bulbs and
fall annuals at least
six weeks before the
first hard freeze.
SUPPLEMENT
soil's summer-
depleted nutrients by
applying a slow-
release fertilizer
around trees and
shrubs. (Ask your
Davey arborist about
our patented Arbor
Green PRO® fertilizer.)
WATER
deeply, reaching the
top 12 inches of soil
to thoroughly quench
tree roots before
freezing weather hits.
INSPECT
trees and shrubs
for signs of insects
or disease, then after
consulting with your
professional arborist
treat as needed with
horticultural oils,
pest treatments or
fungicides.
PRUNE
broken tree
branches
and brace
or cable
weakened
tree limbs.
