Transmission Vegetation Management
DRG has developed an effective inspection strategy and program to support a zero
tolerance for tree outages.
• The collection of vegetation information in the field by DRG professional utility
foresters using mobile GIS technology. This information quickly provides
managers with knowledge of potential Category 1 and 2 violations.
• Identification and prioritization of danger trees (off-corridor), which may cause
a Category 3 violation (fall-in). This will enable the utility to develop a danger
tree removal program with the landowners and agencies along the transmission
corridors.
• Location and documentation of all transmission structures, access points, and
other basemap features that may affect the vegetation management processes.
• Development of work packages for distribution to line clearance crews that may
include GIS-based information and GPS locations of work, as well as other
critical information to ensure effective completion.
• Davey Resource Group will certify that your transmission lines meet Utility
guidelines and NERC requirements, giving you additional peace of mind.
• Davey Resource Group utility foresters are Transmission Certified. They have
received training to ensure they meet the requirements of FAC-003 and other requirements that your utility may
have as part of your transmission program.
Vegetation Management Program Evaluation
When it comes to maintaining a safe and effective transmission and distribution
system, line clearance is most likely your largest budget item. We conduct
objective program evaluations, including work load surveys with management
recommendations. The result is improved operational efficiencies and effective
expenditure levels.
