THE MORE THINGS CHANGE…
"When I look at my whole career working at Davey – from
my start as a crew leader to my recent promotion to regional
manager – I am blown away by the opportunities I've had.
When I just started working for Davey, I attended the Davey
Institute of Grounds Management. For Davey to fly me out to
Kent to help me get better at my job was such a huge deal for
me. Davey as a company focuses so much on the welfare
of their employees, especially those who want to do well."

We all know the second half of that old cliché. The more
things change, the more they stay the same.
In this issue of The Davey Bulletin you're seeing another
change as part of its redesign in 2016. The Bulletin has a
new masthead, the title at the top of the cover page, that
will grace the front cover of each new issue.
The Bulletin masthead has undergone numerous changes
in its 106-year history. The magazine itself has undergone
several name changes, from The Davey Tree Surgeons'
Bulletin to The Davey Bulletin and The MyDavey Bulletin.
Of course the masthead changed along with it -- one
masthead was an illustration of a beautiful, tree-lined
landscape that filled the width of the cover. Others were
simpler; one featured a wooden background.
The most recent masthead didn't quite reflect the sharper,
cleaner design inside the modern issues. With all the other
changes it seemed only fitting to give the magazine a new
cover to match its redesigned internal layout.
As a result, you'll now see us refer to the magazine again
simply as The Davey Bulletin or The Bulletin.
Despite these superficial changes, rest assured the
purpose of the magazine has not changed.
The Davey Tree Surgeons' Bulletin published its first issue
on Feb. 19, 1910. In short, the weekly Bulletin's motto stated
that it was published in the interests of Davey employees
and the advanced tree surgery they performed. The very first
page of the Bulletin even featured a familiar call to far-flung
employees to send in and share their Davey stories.
The Bulletin is for and about you. Its goal is to highlight the
excellent work you do each day and to help create a sense
of unity among Davey employees spanning North America.
Unlike the magazine's appearance, that mission is one that
hasn't changed in over a century. Remember another old
cliché. Don't judge a book by its cover. It is what's inside
that matters most.
