May/June 2016 | 5 EXECUTIVE TRANSITIONS Paul Named Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer Joseph R. Paul has been promoted to executive vice president and chief financial officer. Paul joined Davey in November 2005 as treasurer, was elected vice president and treasurer in May 2011 and promoted to chief financial officer and secretary in 2013. His more than 25 years of financial experience also includes Deloitte & Touche and AccessPoint Openings, LLC. He received his MBA in finance and two undergraduate degrees in both accounting and finance from The University of Akron. "Joe's promotion to executive vice president recognizes his contributions to Davey's sustained financial growth," says Karl Warnke, chairman and CEO. "It also indicates the critical role he will play in helping us fulfill our strate- gic growth objectives." Joseph R. Paul Gregory M. Ina Kathy Doody Doody Named Director of Recruiting and Employee Development Kathy Doody has been promoted to the position of director of recruiting and employee development. In this new role, Doody will focus on enhancing the company's corporate recruiting strategy and maximizing the capabilities of the Employee Develop- ment (Ed) program. In 2015, Doody was appointed to manager, employee development. Doody joined Davey in 1993 as the tax manager and was promoted in 2001 to manager, human resources administration. She is a past recipient of a Best of Davey Leadership Award. "This latest move will add the recruiting piece to the responsibilities Kathy was given in 2015 when she was charged with establishing, imple- menting and monitoring all aspects of our talent management programs, including onboarding, performance management, goal management, mentoring, succession planning and recognition programs," says Pat Covey, president and chief operating officer. Ina Named Corporate Officer, Vice President and General Manager of Research, Recruiting and Human Resource Development Gregory M. Ina has been promoted to vice president and general manager of research, recruit- ing and human resource development. Ina also has been approved by the Board of Directors as a corporate officer of Davey Tree. Ina will maintain responsibility for The Davey Institute, the company's premier research, development and innovation division. "This structure will allow us to more closely align the training programs being run within the Institute with the training being done in the field by the training and recruiting department," says Pat Covey, president and chief operating officer. Ina excels at attracting, managing and training critical talent within the company, and his industry involvement makes him a good fit for the employee development role, Covey says. Ina has master's and bachelor's degrees, specializing in geographic information systems, from Kent State University. He started 21 years ago in the Davey Resource Group as a GIS intern.
