Brown has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Davey Tree. Brown is executive vice president for finance and administration and CFO for FedEx Freight. Brown started his career in Ernst & Young's audit practice in 1977. He joined Roadway Services in 1990 as assistant to the vice president and controller and later served as vice president of Human Resources for Caliber Systems. Brown joined FedEx Corp. in 1998 as staff vice president–controller. He held financial management positions at FedEx Corporate Services and FedEx Logistics before joining FedEx Freight in 2001 as senior vice president and CFO. A Northeast Ohio native, Brown graduated from Kent State University with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He is a member of the Board of Advisors for Miller Transfer & Rigging, and a past member of the Board of Directors and treasurer for the Memphis Development Foundation. He serves as an advisory board member of the Kent State College of Business Administration National Advisory Council. Donald C. Brown cars snowed in at the office to pushing 20-plus inches of snow with a two- wheel-drive truck. Despite the odds, Parker's team completed all client jobs and managed to help local landscape partners with additional work. John Wright, regional commercial manager, oversaw his five commercial land- scape service (CLS) offices in the Washington, D.C., area, including Baltimore CLS, Montgomery County CLS, Dulles CLS, Alexandria CLS, Arlington National Cemetery and Andrews Airforce Base. Wright's crews are used to dealing with snow removals during winter, their off season, but not of this magnitude. "Commercial snow work for an event of this size is huge. You have to reach out to anyone and everyone for help," Wright said. Davey employees from Cleveland, Detroit, Columbus, and Indianapolis joined nearly 400 Davey em- ployees and subcontractors to clear the 20-plus inches of snow for all clients. Michael Pollard, district manager of the New Jersey R/C office, found his crew in similar circumstances to Parker's office. New Jersey was one of the six states that saw more than two feet of snow from Friday evening through Monday morning the weekend the storm struck. This was uncharted water for two of Pollard's New Jersey crew members: Bryan Johnson, PHC technician, and Joe O'Shea, PHC technician trainee. "Neither Bryan nor Joe had ever plowed snow before, but they both stepped up and handled over 30 inches of snow for a valued client," says Pollard, who is very proud of their great efforts.
