Carolyn Benedict retired March 27, 2016, following 15 years of service. She was a client experience coordina- tor at the San Francisco office. Rick Colburn retired February 13, 2016, following 17 years of service. He was a sales arborist at the Atlanta office. Kim Moranz retired February 4, 2016, following 21 years of service. She was a client experience coordina- tor at the Cincinnati office. Daniel Prospal retired March 1, 2016, following 39 years of service. He was a UVM Specialist for Davey Resource Group and also served as an R/C district manager for the North Detroit office. Robert Salas retired March 18, 2016, following 17 years of service. He was a supervisor on the PG&E Santa Rosa account. Thomas Robert retired March 4, 2016, following 38 years of service. He was a foreman on the PG&E North Shasta account. Robert Ruggles retired February 20, 2016, following 17 years of service. He was manager of accounts receivable at the corporate office. RETIREMENTS Retiree Carol Enlow passed away on March 7, 2016. Carol was a billing specialist at the corporate office. She retired in February 2015 following 29 years of service. DAVEY PEOPLE May/June 2016 | 31 Rod Soderstrom Founded High Tree Retiree Rod Soderstrom passed away Feb. 22, 2016. Rod most recently served as vice president and general manager of The Davey Tree Expert Co. of Canada, Ltd. He retired in June 2014 after 45 years of service. Rod founded High Tree Services in Nanaimo, British Columbia, in 1969 along the Canadian Pacific coast shoreline. High Tree soon started managing utility line clear- ance work with contracts for clients such as B.C. Hydro. Through High Tree, Rod introduced the first insulated bucket truck for tree trimming in British Columbia. Davey acquired High Tree in 1986 – a partnership that gave Davey a tremendous presence in Canada's western utility services market. After joining Davey, Rod expanded operations in Alberta and, as in British Columbia, introduced the province to insulated bucket trucks. Rod worked to improve professionalism in Canada's tree care industry. He initiated the Western Utility Arborist Association and the Utility Vegetation Management Association of Alberta. In 2013, Rod received the John Davey Award at the National Managers' Meeting. IN MEMORIAM Rod Soderstrom, right, receives the John Davey Award from President, Chairman and CEO Karl Warnke in 2013. Retiree Johnny Fulk passed away on March 28, 2016. Johnny was an account manager for the Michigan utilities. He retired in February 1996 following 44 years of service.
