Three days before Christmas, St. Helens, Oregon, was hit hard by a nasty wind
storm that toppled trees onto residents' homes, landscapes and vehicles.
Many residents, trying to pick up the pieces of their damaged homes and
landscapes, called Davey's Portland, Oregon, R/C office for some much-needed
assistance once the storm subsided.
Davey's William Byrd, crew leader, and his team, including trimmer Nicholas
Rossmiller and groundman Erik Pennington, arrived at the first caller's home to
find many neighboring properties with similar storm damage.
"When the contractors built the neighborhood they most likely logged too close
to the home," Byrd says. "Which left the remaining trees with weak root systems,
causing the trees to fail."
Even though Byrd and his crew were only contracted to clear one home, they
ended up selling three more tree removal jobs in the neighborhood that day.
One of those clients was Brenda Hoag, who lives next door to the first
neighborhood resident who called Davey. Hoag left for work that morning after
the storm not knowing how the four trees that fell on her truck, shed and within
her landscape would be cleared in time for Christmas festivities.
While Hoag was at work, her husband talked with Byrd while he worked next
door. Byrd gladly examined their fallen trees and gave an estimate for the
clean-up work. To Hoag's surprise, by the time she returned home Byrd and his
crew removed most of the fallen trees in her landscape. Byrd even managed
to start Hoag's truck after a tree collapsed on it.
"They had it cleared up in no time," Hoag says. "They were awesome and even
had it done before Christmas Eve."
Hoag later tagged Davey in a rave review on Facebook thanking Byrd and his
crew for their efficient and effective tree removal work.
"Anybody needing tree removals, I highly recommend them," Hoag wrote in
her Facebook review.
