ISSUE ROOT OF THE PICTURING THE BIG SHIP "What I like most about my job is going above and beyond for each and every client that I interact with each day. When I engage clients, I feel capable of answering the majority of their questions because of Davey's extensive training. This gives clients added confidence in the Davey brand. I feel the smallest details and striving for perfection is what retains a client, and I enjoy contributing to Davey's exceptional reputation. Davey gives me this freedom and trust to be a part of the 'Davey Difference.' I am proud to be a part of the team." THE MY DAVEY BULLETIN IS FOR EMPLOYEES LIKE... FRED McLANE foreman, Cincinnati, OH R/C Matt Fredmonsky May/June 2016 | 3 I have heard the comparison made between Davey and a big ship. Naturally, as a fan of Great Lakes freighters, I imagine a behemoth iron ore carrier. Its shiny red and black hull cuts a smooth wake across a sparkling-blue Lake Michigan. I like this comparison, because it makes me think about how the MyDavey Bulletin is the ship's radio. The radio of course can communicate internally, to the ship's crew, and externally to other ships and to shore. Through its speakers, a ship's crew hears the voice of each other and the ship's officers, its leaders. What makes the Bulletin great is the fact its airwaves are already full of great stories from all of you. Like that freighter's radio, the MyDavey Bulletin relies on your reports. With this third issue for 2016 of the MyDavey Bulletin you've undoubtedly noticed how much its redesigned layout relies on high-quality photographs. With your submissions, we also look forward to seeing your photographs. Here are some tips for taking great photos to go with your exceptional stories. • Make sure all employees pictured are working safely and using appropriate PPE • Clean the lens, whether on a camera or cell phone camera • Get close to your subject, and try interesting angles • Hold your camera steady • Don't zoom in with a smartphone; get closer instead Keep sending us submissions to Davey Families, whether you're a proud parent or grandparent, Davey Around the World, when you take that great vacation, In the Spotlight, for when you or a coworker earns special recognition, and our other regular features. The picture is yours to paint. Let's all work together to make it a good one.
