Students from Hocking College
visited Davey's Columbus R/C office
in December to learn about career
opportunities at Davey. Presenters
included Brian Heath, district
manager of Davey's Columbus R/C
office; Scott Lindesmith, district
manager of Davey's Columbus West
R/C office; Jeff Crites, market man-
ager Great Lakes operating group;
and Mark Noark, manager of recruit-
ing and training. Davey regularly
hires interns from the school.
NEXT GENERATION
ARBORISTS
For over 35 years, Davey has
recruited employees from Southern
Illinois University, and many of
them have gone on to be notable
figures in the company. So, when
Dr. Mickey Latour, dean of the College
of Agricultural Sciences at Southern
Illinois University, happened to be
in the area of Davey's St. Louis R/C
office, he stopped by with pizza in
hand to visit with the five Davey
employees at the St. Louis R/C
office who graduated from SIU.
DAVEY, SIU 'REUNION'
IN ST. LOUIS
Davey's North and South Houston
crews finished second at the
2016 Houston Regional Tree
Planting Competition.
At the event, 250 volunteers planted
2,000 trees in two-and-a-half hours.
Matt Petty, sales arborist, as captain
led his 10-member team to plant
100 trees in 38 minutes, 7 seconds
– a new record for Davey after nine
years of competing.
The planting benefitted the Harris
County Flood Control District's
Stormwater Detention Basin.
