F
rom a bustling city and beaches to
continuous mountain ranges and white
water rafting experiences, Panama has unique
features and attractions for all visitors. But for
A.D. Ali, one particular landmark is a "must-see."
Ali, technical advisor with the Davey Institute,
has yearned to see the Panama Canal for many
years—and he finally got the chance to see it
on vacation last spring.
Ali and his favorite reading material, The
MyDavey Bulletin, made the trip south to see
the historic canal—which has connected the
Americas for more than 100 years.
Davey Around
the World
"Panama is the bridging capital of the
Americas," Ali says.
Ali truly appreciated the Panama experience;
he indulged in fresh seafood and discovered
unique wildlife and tree species, including lush
fruit trees, Banyan trees and Royal Poinciana.
He enjoyed Panama's urban culture as well.
Because Ali studies horticulture and
entomology (the study of insects), Panama
was a perfect place for him to spend vacation.
He had several opportunities to observe tropical
and sub-tropical trees, as well as discover
spiders and beetles native to the region.
