Fall Back on Giving
A
t Davey, it's not a holiday or special
occasion that inspires employees to
give back to their communities.
Giving back occurs all year long.
Whether you're planting new trees in a park
(see "Arbor Day Fun Continues," page 11),
contributing to the efforts of local causes and
organizations (see "Davey Delivers a Radical
Renovation," page 12), or simply rescuing
small animals from trees and shrubs (see
"From Trees to Birds to Kittens," page 13),
your attention to the community matters,
and, believe it or not, other employees enjoy
reading about your experiences!
(The animal lovers around here particularly
love receiving photos from cat rescue missions
completed by Davey arborists, just saying.)
It's the stories you share with us that makes
this publication so special and relevant to its
audience. Your stories help attract new talent
to the company. Your words inspire other
employees to begin or continue to give back
to their communities. And your experiences
help document the rich, continuous 135-year
history of The Davey Tree Expert Company.
As Stephen R. Covey said, "Strength lies
in differences, not in similarities." And, as
you may have noticed, Davey continues to
grow and expand within several regions
and service lines—all of which represent
employees with ranging levels of service,
backgrounds and experience.
So, embrace your unique qualities and
contributions to the company and tell us
what you're all about. Send your story ideas
to bulletin@davey.com. We're listening.

The MyDavey Bulletin is a publication for employees like...
Bill Hickman
foreman at the Charlotte R/C office
As someone who is involved with
training new people, Hickman feels much
gratification after watching an individual's
development and attitude change, seeing
how he or she acts differently and then
witnessing him or her adopt new practices.
Situational awareness is
important. Whether you're
driving or playing with your kids
in the backyard, there is always
the potential to encounter hazards.
But through training, professional
development opportunities,
career development/advanced
arborist programs and regional
safety specialist visits, it's clear
Davey is very dedicated to its
safety culture.
